At the congress “Surgery Together: Joint Conference of Italian Surgical Specialist Societies”, held in Genoa on June 27th and 28th 2019, our member Dr. Luca Seriau talked about surgery in the Outpatient and Day Surgery setting, which has always been an integral part of breast surgery. The goal, in fact, is to reduce hospitalization times for patients who face increasingly conservative interventions, while still maintaining a high quality of care and remaining at the patient’s disposal even when she returns home. Furthermore, Dr. Seriau discussed the minimum requirements that a Breast Unit should have, emphasizing once again the importance of dedicated and highly specialized personnel. Although in Italy there is not yet a school of specialization in Senology, at the moment there are II level Masters and specific training courses for the breast surgeon, to provide him with the most adequate tools to learn the complex management of breast patients.
Al congresso “Chirurgia Insieme: Convegno Congiunto delle Società Specialistiche Chirurgiche Italiane”, tenutosi a Genova il 27 e 28 Giugno 2019, il nostro socio dottor Luca Seriau ha parlato della chirurgia in regime ambulatoriale e Day Surgery, che fa parte integrante da sempre della chirugia senologica. L’obiettivo, infatti, è quello di ridurre i tempi di degenza per le pazienti che affrontano interventi sempre più conservativi, mantenendo pur sempre un’elevata qualità dell’assistenza e rimanendo a disposizione della paziente anche al suo rientro a domicilio. Inoltre, il dottor Seriau ha discusso quelli che sono i requisiti minimi che una Breast Unit dovrebbe avere, sottolineando ancora una volta l’importanza di personale dedicato ed altamente specializzato. Sebbene in Italia non vi sia ancora una scuola di specializzazione in Senologia, esistono al momento Master di II livello e Corsi di formazione specifici per il chirurgo senologo, per fornirgli gli strumenti più adeguati per apprendere la gestione complessa della paziente senologica.
